Ravindra and Tim Southee shattered the backs of Indian bowlers and fielders by scoring 137 runs in 132 balls for the eighth wicket. The stand has effectively snatched the game away from India, who had made a promising start to the day by capturing four wickets in the opening half of the session. The stand came to an end when Southee fell for 65 off 83 balls to Siraj, but Ravindra struck and put New Zealand’s total above 400. Ravindra was thanked by the Indian players and received a standing ovation from the fans in Bengaluru, where his family is from and his paternal grandparents still reside.
